Go Further With Confidence
Factory fuel tanks often fall short when it comes to outback touring, towing, or serious off-roading. A long range tank increases your fuel capacity without taking up valuable storage space, so you can drive longer distances between stops — and take the road less travelled with peace of mind.
At Oceans Automotive, we install long range tanks that are built tough, designed to suit your make and model, and fully sealed for safety and performance. Whether you need more diesel range for a Cape trip or want to avoid jerry cans altogether, we’ll get you sorted.
The Process
Installing a long range tank properly is more involved than just swapping a few bolts. Here’s how we handle every install:

Vehicle Inspection & Setup Check
We assess your current tank configuration, underbody clearance, towing setup, and how your 4WD is used — including typical load weight and fuel type.

Tank Selection & Compatibility
We recommend a tank that suits your make, model, and trip goals — whether it’s a direct replacement or auxiliary setup. We factor in fitment, venting, and legal compliance.

Tank Removal & Fitment Prep
We remove the factory tank, clean the surrounding area, and prep mounting points. Fuel lines, senders and breathers are inspected and replaced as needed.

Long Range Tank Installation
The new tank is installed with upgraded straps, mounts and hardware. We ensure a snug fit, avoiding rattles or clearance issues with suspension, exhaust, or spare wheels.

Tank Reconnection
We reconnect fuel lines, check for leaks, and test for proper gauge function. The breather system is routed to prevent splash or vacuum issues during refuelling.

Fill-Up & Final Inspection
We partially fill the tank to check for sealing, range calculations, and sender unit accuracy. Once confirmed, your 4WD is good to go — with extended range and zero stress.
Available Modifications & Options
We supply and install a variety of tank setups, including:
- Main tank replacements (increased capacity)
- Auxiliary long range tanks (dual tank setups)
- Transfer pump wiring and switches
- Under-tray and in-chassis designs
- Breather and filler upgrades
- Fuel filter and water trap installation (diesel setups)
All tanks we fit are compliant, tough enough for WA roads, and sourced from trusted Australian suppliers.

4x4 Towing Transfers Available
If your tank’s leaking, cracked, or you’re unable to drive safely, we offer towing transfers across Perth. We’ll collect your vehicle and fit the new tank with no downtime or drama.
FAQs
It depends on your model and setup, but most long range tanks add 40–80L over factory capacity — sometimes more with auxiliary systems.
